17. Favourite Member of Yosen

Another day of being extremely obvious.

And no, I will never get over the L'Oreal commercial.

When it comes to character design Murasakibara is the one of the five GOM I like the best. Especially the choice of the shade of purple. Because Akashi's red is a little unsettling or a bit ridiculous depending on what he's wearing, Kise's yellow is the most obnoxious "I'm a dadelion, come at me bees" kind of yellow, Midorima's green is literally the most unappealing shade of green you could have possibly gone for, and Aomine's blue is... yeah, whatever, it's fine, but Murasakibara's whole colour scheme is actually pleasant to look at. Also I like long-haired characters. 🤷

I also wish I knew more about him, but his personality, place in the story and the location too make it so there isn't as much information as there is about the others. He's also a character whose perspective I had to grow to understand better. It wasn't until towards the end of university that I personally experienced what it's like when something you do happens so easily, you're so natural at it, that it's both hard for you to figure out what it actually means to you and hard for you to watch other people struggle for half of your results. I'm very passionate by nature, and before that time it never even occurred to me I could ever be good at something I'm not passionate about, especially something that sort of permeates your reality, so that was a very eye-opening experience.

Murasakibara also gets my sympathies because he's so smart if he just decides to, like he can just up his grades if he wants to but often he couldn't care less and that reminds me of my brother... (Actually Aomine reminds me of him too. Yes I have very talented siblings.)

I guess it's like, if I can find myself in a situation where I don't know how to quit something because I don't hate it, I even love aspects of it, and I'm too good at it so the pressure from other people to continue is too much for me to figure things out even though it ultimately takes more than it gives mentally... Then Murasakibara can definitely find something he's truly passionate about without reservations, and I want to write him doing that. Even if he remains more of a side character in my fics for now, I want to portray that at least.

Hi!~ What's your favourite KnB team? Have you ever read KnB manga/ ranobe/ CD drama and other KnB stuff?

Hello, thank you for the question! (˶◡‿◡) 

My top 3 teams are Seirin, Kaijo, and Yosen (in order of appearance). All of them have different types of people who I’d probably get along with, and it’s always been fun for me to see them argue about the most random things. Still, in general, I actually like all the teams the GoM members went to since all of them have something unique about them!

Ok, so everything that had to do with KnB goes way back for me, so I might need to reread/rewatch some of their things 👀 , BUT yes I’ve read the manga as well as some of their visual novels, heard quite a bit of drama CDs, watched almost all of their stage plays I’m missing only one or two of them I think, I’ve watched all of their KuroBas Cups, and I’ve also watched all of their OVAs (ˆ⌣ˆ)

Heeey~ So, I was thinking, the kirisaki bastards are great together, but what if they were in different schools? Which team would be better for each of them? Also, I love your writing, I have a very self indulgent OC and when I have troubles with characterization, I always read what you write

Hanamiya Makoto - Fukuda Sogo

fukuda’s a strong team with a pest control problem - the pest namely being haizaki

from what we know of the team, haizaki’s running rampant (the fact he hits a teammate highlights that), but hanamiya’s involvement in the team could change that

apart from haizaki, the fukuda team members seem pretty easily controlled so hanamiya could easily ‘train up’ the team to make it similar to what kiridai is like now

and his rough play style would be even more successful with the talented haizaki as his kouhai

Hara Kazuya - Josei

first off, josei’s a team that’s somewhat strong (statistically, the same average power as kiridai) but, at the same time, it’s not an overly serious team

and this mix is why i think hara (mr i joined basketball cause i looks cool and i want clout) would fit into josei just fine

in particular, hara seems to get along with a variety of personalities, which would serve him handy in the mix of characters at josei (the casual sakuma, the brash narumi, etc)

and fun fact: the mode height in josei is 6′2/188cm, just like our boy kazuya

Furuhashi Kojiro - Yosen

so this may seem like a weird choice but there’s reasoning for it i swear

first off, yosen’s a team known for their height (and the defence it provides) so furuhashi at 6′1/186cm would fit in in that aspect

plus, yosen seems like the team that would be the least caring about furuhashi’s underhanded playing style; fukui doesn’t mind degrading his opponents, i doubt wei liu would care, okamura wouldn’t be able to stop furuhashi anyway, and so on

and furuhashi’s the kind of player that can blend into the background; he’s not ‘special’, and so he could help support the more showy players of the team - thus boosting yosen’s teammwork, which is currently their weakest point

(also yosen high has ‘volunteer days’ for the students, and i really wanna see furuhashi suffer through that. probably community gardening tbh.)

Seto Kentaro - N/A

seto only joined basketball because of hanamiya’s invite, and, in my view, he’s bothered staying in the team because of how he’s been accomodated into the team

seto knows what he’s needed for, hanamiya knows he needs him, and so they’ve clearly come up with a compromise (like how seto gets to chill during the first half of a match) which allows seto to take basketball in his stride

in another team though, he’d have to work to be on the lineup and honestly? seto doesn’t care enough about basketball to bother with that

of course, he’s got the height (which might get him recruited) but, beyond that, his skill is his intelligence, and that only really works when he’s with hanamiya

so, overall, in another school, seto wouldn’t be playing basketball to begin with

Yamazaki Hiroshi - Seirin

yes, our boy’s a protagonist

jokes aside, i’ve assigned yamazaki to seirin for two reasons: firstly, how he’d improve the team, and, secondly, how he’d fit with the team dynamic

first off, seirin’s a pretty short team; if yamazaki were to join, he’d be the fourth tallest member, adding to seirin’s height (which is one of their lowest stats). yamazaki’s also a strong player in comparison to quite a few of seirin’s members, so his being on the team would improve the bench strength too.

more importantly, i think zaki would thrive in seirin’s friendly environment, as someone who enjoys hanging out with friends, and, of course, without the need for the underhanded play.

and we all know he’d be the grump of the team once hyuga leaves

Matsumoto Itsuki - Seiho

matsumoto gives me pretty traditional vibes, so i think he’d fit right in with the techniques seiho uses

in particular though i could see him in this team as seiho’s coach has the same surname (and kanji in the surname) as our favourite itsuki

matsumoto would take over the center position from iwamura, and there’d definitely be a lot of respect towards the former captain from the second year - they’re both blunt but respectful

(also everyone calls tsugawa matsumoto’s mini me, which matsumoto despises, but at the same time he would do anything to train his kouhai up right)

overall, send matsumoto to seiho. it’s what he deserves.
